From island hopping to ocean crossing
During this unique Atlantic sailing holiday, we combine exploring the most beautiful Canary Islands with an ocean passage to Madeira.
The first two days we’ll likely sail via the lush and mountainous La Gomera to the unspoiled island of La Palma. This warm-up gives everyone time to settle in with the yacht, the crew, and the long Atlantic swell. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the Spanish island atmosphere, picturesque harbors, and the wonderful subtropical climate.
Ocean Crossing – 270 miles across the Atlantic
After island hopping, we set course for Madeira: 270 nautical miles of offshore sailing, about two full days at sea. Life on board follows a relaxed yet organized rhythm, with a three-watch system – 3 hours on, 6 hours off – so everyone gets plenty of rest and stays sharp during watch duty. At night, when the air cools, we sail under a sky filled with stars – an experience every sailor should have at least once.
Nature moments you’ll never forget
Out on the open Atlantic, you’ll witness spectacular sunsets, breathtaking starry skies, and have a high chance of spotting dolphins. With a little luck, we may even encounter whales during the passage.
Arrival in Madeira – time to relax and discover
If weather permits, we may make an extra stop at a harbor on Madeira before reaching our destination, giving us the chance to experience the local culture and recharge after the ocean passage.
Our adventure ends in Funchal, the charming capital of Madeira, where we’ll celebrate together with dinner in a typical Portuguese restaurant.
Who is this sailing trip for?
This sailing adventure from the Canary Islands to Madeira is perfect for adventurous sailors who dream of experiencing an ocean passage in a safe, friendly environment – but also want to enjoy some island hopping and cultural highlights along the way. It’s the perfect balance between active bluewater sailing and relaxed exploration.
The daily sailing distances are between 18 and 270 miles. The above schedule is subject to weather, wind and tide.

★★★★★
